Lake Raystown Roundup this weekend
Posted by: | CommentsLake Raystown is a 28 mile long, 200 foot deep lake in central Pennsylvania. On September 12 & 13, the Extreme East Coast Tour is having their “Raystown Roundup” at the Raystown Resort. There is no competition this weekend, just a get-toghther of some of the best wakeboarders from Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Washington DC, West Virginia and New Jersey. The lake is massive so there is plenty of clean water so bring your boat and get ready for an awesome weekend.
We are all trying to stay in the Pine Cabins or the Brich Campsites to keep everyone in the same area. Click here for a PDF of the resorts brochure and map. If you have any questions, hit us up here: Contact Us.
Beaver County River Regatta
Posted by: | CommentsThe Wakeboard Pittsburgh Crew will be preforming in the Beaver County River Regatta for the third straight year on August 15th and 16th, 2009. We always are happy to participate in an event were we get to demonstrate the sport of wakeboarding in front of a large crowd. Not to mention that the area is a No Wake zone with pristine water and they let me do whatever I want. Last year I tried to jump wake to wake over a Jet Ski! Check out the other highlights from last years show in the photo gallery below.
If you have any antics or ideas for this years show, hit us up at www.wakeboardpittsburgh.com/contact-us. Also, make sure to stop by and say Hi. There will be 12 of us rocking out all weekend on the Malibu Wakesetter and I will be the guy with the Slingshot Wakeboard Gear.
The Beaver County River Regatta in Bridgewater, PA offers events for kids and adults of all ages: Children’s Fishing Derby, Ducky Derby Race, The Anything That Floats Contest , along with the Wing Eating Contest, Tons of Food Vendors, and live Entertainment by the Top Bands in the area. Extreme Drag Boat Racing, Water Sports, Water-Ski Shows, Children’s Activities, and Zambelli Fireworks are only some of the reasons to attend.
Wake Milton
Posted by: | CommentsWake Milton is an grass roots wakeboard tournament hosted by the Waters Edge Boardshop in Lake Milton, OH on June 20th. The day started off with heavy rains and it ended up flooding the contest site. It is a good thing the Flyer said “Rain or Shine” because by 10am the skys cleared and masses of people showed up for a day of great competition.
About half way through the day Local Wakeboard Pro, Rob Struharik, showed up to woo the crowd and judge the Outlaw competition. I haven’t scene Rob since the US Open of Wakeboarding was in Pensacola, FL, which was about 10 years ago. At the time I was a little kid with only a few inverts and I was also riding his pro model board (the one with the snail). I remember it was a huge deal to meet him, and he was really nice to me and my father. I only said a couple of words to him at the contest, but you could still tell that he was a nice guy.
As far as the contest went, I spent most of my day walking around and talking to people, so I don’t have the results. When it was my turn to ride there was a huge dispute over the coolness of the “Fashion Air”, and somehow I got dared to throw one in my set. Luckly, Neil from Wake Nation and Liquidforce agreed to do one too so I did not knock down my points as much. I ended up falling on my elephant right before my pass was over and then again on a one wake raley (there was no time for the boat to reach full speed). It was the first time I have tried an inside-out raley in about five years, so I was just stoked that I landed on the board.
After the contest, we headed over to the Waters Edge Board Shop, which is the only wakeboard shop in the NorthEast Ohio area. If you are ever in town, it is a must see!

Gerry Nunn Wakeboard Clinics
Posted by: | CommentsOn Thurdsday, June 18th, the Wakeboard Pittsburgh crew traveled up to Conneaut Lake for the Navigation Company’s Gerry Nunn Demo Day. Gerry Nunn is a Professional Wakeboarder and an “As Seen On TV” Ab-Cruncher (If you are ever watching TV at 3am in the morning and see a guy doing the ab-lounge on a dock and then taking a wakeboarding set, that is Gerry). If you would like to see a video of how Gerry rides, check out his page on the Gator Boards Website: http://www.gatorboards.com/Wakeboard/Gerry-Nunn.
Even though we did not have great weather, about 15+ people showed up at Navigation Company’s headquarters to take lessons from Gerry. We all piled in the 2009 Malibu Wakesetter VLX with the new Maliview System (its a TV in a boat) and headed to the opposite side of Conneaut Lake to ride. Highlights of the day included Alex landing his first Whirlybird, Zach going huge and Gerry Nunn showing us all how it is done. Check out the photos below.

Kenny Chesney Concert at Heinz Field
Posted by: | CommentsOn Saturday, June 6th, Kenny Chesney will be coming to Pittsburgh to preform at Heinz Field. The great thing about this event is that the sound from the concert travels out of Heinz Field and over the river. Over the past couple of years, this has become the largest party for boaters in Western PA. If you go by boat, make sure to check out the Boat Pittsburgh & Froggy Radio Summer Kick Off Party: http://www.boatpittsburgh.com/article-2009-summer-kickoff.aspx
