Wisp Wakeboard Rail Jam Series

By kyle · Comments (0)

This event has been CANCELLED.  Becasue of all of the rain, the ponds at wisp are overflowwing and the water quality is really bad.

We are going to have the event in July and August though.  Stay tuned for dates!

Last summer, Wisp Mountain Resort held a Wakeboard and Wakeskate Rail Jam in their front pond.  This year, Wisp is going to have a series of Wakeboard & Wakeskate Rail Jams.

Check out the Pictures from last years event:

Testing the Hyperlite Swell

By kyle · Comments (0)

This past weekend, a bunch of us got to demo the brand new Hyperlite Swell wakesurf board.  This “almost” symmetrical board is very short at 4′3″ and very wide at 21″.  On the water, the Swell is a monster with its speed being its greatest attribute.  Fairly loose with only one 1.1″ fin, proper edging is needed to get the board to turn, but it is extremely responsive when you put pressure on the rails.  If you are an intermediate/advanced rider looking for a board that will test your skills and take you to the next level, then I highly recommend this board.

Check out the photos below.

New Jersey Wakefest

By kyle · Comments (0)

The 2009 New Jersey Wakefest was this past Saturday.  A little bit of rain did not stop over 200 people from showing up, making the festival one of the biggest wakeboard events in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Thanks to Kyle and Doug for taking me out on their X-Star for a set.  Also thanks to the whole www.wakeboardnj.com crew for putting on one heck of an event.

See below for some of the pictures from the event.  For all of the pictures, check out www.wakeboardpittsburgh.com/photo

The first stop of the Xtreme East Coast Tour was this past weekend in Falling Waters, WV.  Over 50 people showed up to compete and enjoy the beautiful summer weather.  A full article of the days events will be published in one of the next issues of Wake Riders Connection Magazine, a grassroots wakeboard magaizine that covers the Mid-Atlantic Region.

For now, see below for pictures and the top three riders from each division.

I have also placed all of the pictures (238) from the event in the new photo gallery - www.wakeboardpittsburgh.com/photo  Feel free to take any of the pictures for your personal use.  If you need a picture bigger than the 800 pixels I posted on the web, send me an email

On Saturday, June 6th, Kenny Chesney will be coming to Pittsburgh to preform at Heinz Field.  The great thing about this event is that the sound from the concert travels out of Heinz Field and over the river.  Over the past couple of years, this has become the largest party for boaters in Western PA.  If you go by boat, make sure to check out the Boat Pittsburgh & Froggy Radio Summer Kick Off Party: http://www.boatpittsburgh.com/article-2009-summer-kickoff.aspx

navigationco

Yesterday, I stopped by the Navigation Company store in Conneaut Lake, PA to check out their selection of wakeboard gear.  The store is on the southern point of Conneaut Lake, righ on Conneaut Lake Road.  They cary a huge selection of Hyperlite, Byerly and Ronix gear as well as Malibu and Centurion Boats.  If you are ever in the area, I highly suggest you check it out.  I took a couple of pics, and added them below.  You can click on the pictures to make them bigger.

Also, when I was in the store, I found out that Gerry Nunn will be teaching lessons at Conneaut Lake through the Navigation Company all day on Thursday, June 18th.  If there is a trick out there that you want to learn, Gerry can teach it to you.  Gerry has been a Pro Wakeboarder since 1994, and he still goes HUGE!  I got a chance to ride with Gerry in 2003 at the Colligate Nationals down in Panama City, FL and it is something you have to see to believe.  Check out 20 seconds into this video to see what I mean: http://www.grindtv.com/video/wake/wakeboard_faction_open/?athlete=1259#6716
